Giving Tuesday is a global day of charitable giving dedicated to kick off the holiday season and help those in need. On November 28, people all over the world come together for one purpose — to give something more.
If you’re a non-profit organization in the United States with a valid 501(c)(3), you’ll want to take advantage of Google’s donation button. Donors searching for 501(c)(3) nonprofits on Google could see a donation button in your organization’s knowledge panel (the box that appears to the right of their search results). This will make it quick, easy and safe to donate.
Your organization will receive the donations from Network for Good, a U.S. nonprofit donor-advised fund which Google partners with. You don’t need to be a member of Network for Good in order to receive the donations. The NFG will disburse donations to the address listed on your Guidestar profile. As long as your 501(c)3 is listed in Guidestar’s database and you have not opted out of online giving, you’ll be eligible for this feature.
When someone chooses to donate, they are making a donation to the Network for Good Donor Advised Fund, which then re-grants the donation to your organization.
Below are the steps to take in order to enable the ‘Donate’ button for your not-for-profit organization.
- If you’re already a Nonprofits member, sign into your Google for Nonprofits account.
- Click the ‘sign up now’ button.
- Click the ‘enroll’ button beneath the Google search and One Today products on the ‘enrollments’ page in your account
- You will then be taken to your donation portal to sign up to receive donations.
